JAG Assistans Ab is a non‑profit service provider dedicated to delivering the highest possible quality of personal assistance for people with multiple and extensive physical and intellectual disabilities.
JAG is strongly rooted in an ideology based on the equal value of all people. Another fundamental principle that runs throughout the organization is the belief that all individuals have both the will and the ability to exercise self‑determination—provided they have access to appropriate communication support and receive meaningful responses from those around them.

JAG – a Civil Rights Movement
Members of JAG seek the same civil rights and responsibilities as everyone else in Finland.
Children should be able to grow up in their families, and adults should have the opportunity to choose where and with whom they live. Through personal assistance, we are able to live on our own terms and take part in community life with family and friends.
The JAG Association works to ensure that all members can live a good life by promoting:
- Equality, Assistance, and Community (JAG)
- The best possible individually tailored personal assistance in all situations in life, with respect for human dignity and personal integrity
- Living in community on one’s own terms, with one’s family and as others in society do, while having access to meaningful and stimulating experiences in a safe way
- The promotion of physical and mental well‑being, and the safeguarding of other personal interests
JAG has a strong ideological foundation grounded in the belief in the equal value of all human beings. A core conviction throughout the organization is that everyone has both the desire and the capacity to exercise self‑determination—when supported by the right communication tools and a responsive environment.
A key condition for JAG members in Finland to achieve self‑determination and participation is that those who require help in expressing their views receive such support from their legal representative (parent/guardian for minors and legal trustee for adults).
